The three leading general assistants, side by side. None wins every task, so the useful question is which fits yours.
If you want a versatile all-rounder, pick ChatGPT. If you want careful long-context reasoning and writing, pick Claude. If your work lives in Google's apps, pick Gemini.

Facts are kept plain and verifiable. Which models you get, and how much usage, depend on your plan for all three.
ChatGPT suits people who want one flexible assistant for a bit of everything, plus a big community and documented API.
Claude suits people doing analysis, writing, and coding where accuracy and tone matter, and teams that value an open connector standard.
Gemini suits people and teams who already run on Google Workspace and want the assistant native to their mail, docs, and files.
Pick ChatGPT for breadth in one window: a draft, an image, a voice chat, a common task with a documented recipe.
Pick Claude for long, careful, or voice-sensitive work, or when you want a vendor-neutral assistant wired into your own tools.
Pick Gemini when your day runs through Google's apps and you want the assistant right inside them.
Using two or three and routing by task is a common, sensible setup. See the head-to-heads: Claude vs ChatGPT, ChatGPT vs Gemini, and Claude vs Gemini.

There is no single best. ChatGPT is the most versatile all-rounder, Claude leads on careful long-context reasoning and writing, and Gemini fits best inside Google's apps. The right one depends on your main task and where you work.
Claude is a common favourite for writing because it follows nuanced instructions and holds tone. ChatGPT and Gemini also write well, with ChatGPT quick to add images or voice and Gemini handy when the draft lives in Google Docs.
All three code. Claude is often chosen for multi-file work and reading a large codebase; ChatGPT has the largest community and documented setups; Gemini is convenient inside Google's tools. For terminal, repo-wide agents, look at Claude Code.
Gemini, because it is built into Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Drive and can act on them with the least setup.
Many people do, routing each task to whichever fits. In a governed workspace you can connect any of them through the permissions you grant rather than pasting sensitive material into a consumer chat.
